Fitness app

The goal of the school project was to develop a service that helps users who do strength training to track and analyze their progress. Using the Design Thinking process, the solution became a mobile app where users can log their workouts and view their progress through stats and personal records.

Empathize

Survey & Target Audience
A survey was done to identify the target audience and understand the needs of users who train at the gym. Common needs among respondents was the ability to log workouts and track progress over time. Most respondents were aged 26–35, trained strength 3–5 times per week, and identified as intermediate-level lifters.

User Interviews & Empathy Mapping
Two interviews were conducted with users who expressed the need to log and monitor their training progress. The interviews aimed to gain deeper insights through more specific questions.

Based on the interview findings, empathy maps were created to further understand user motivations, goals, and challenges.

Define

Persona & Scenarios
I did one persona to make it easier to understand their goals, frustrations, and what they need from the app. These helped me think about how the app should work in real life and what features would be most helpful.

“I want to see my previous workouts and see if I have improved”

“I want an overview of my progress over the past few months.”

Ideate

Affinity mapping & User Flow

I used the method of affinity mapping to brainstorm ideas and features based on the two scenarios I had created earlier.

After the affinity mapping, I created two user flows based on the scenarios. These flows show the steps the user takes, from the starting point to reaching their goal.
